Monthly Update - October 2019

Making a difference update, from the recovery field – October 2019 edition… Below are some bullet points of

the highlights that happened in the Life Issues ministry over the last month:

* We teamed up with Joshua House to get a homeless man a motel room for the first two weeks of
October, so that he could stay local and keep a job! This young man is doing well and now has a more affordable and more permanent place to stay and comes to church and meetings regularly!

* We placed an order for more recovery literature, because we’ve given away quite a bit lately!

* Our grandson and one of our ladies got baptized on 10-13, see attached picture (we’re very proud of these folks)!

* Although it was a little rainy at the first part of the event, several of us helped serve at HBF’s annual Harvest Party on 10-19. This is a great outreach to the community, and I was proud of all our leaders and students that ministered to others that day!
* I’m thankful to communicate that one of our couples were awarded full custody of the wife’s kids on 10-21

* We had 6 folks qualify to receive Alumni tags in October, attached is a picture of 4 of them with me!

* A highlight for one of our leaders, was to tell me that the man he’s discipling got to lead an elderly
lady to Christ in October! This was a precious development that thrilled all involved!

* The owner of Joshua House, Jeff Parham, gave a great testimony at our 10-25 meeting, attached is a picture of him and his wife with the guys living there.

* Life Issues helped a lady and her baby with her electric bill on 10-25, and we partnered with HBF to help a different lady with her electric bill on 10-27.

* I took a man to the Salvation Army on 11-1-19, for the good folks at West Central Action Agency.

*One of our men has been accepted into the Cass County Drug Court and should be starting mid-November.

* We gave away over 4 boxes of food in October and had to go shopping to restock our Morsels for

* Many food pantry; we’re thankful to be able to provide for the hungry in our midst!

* I wanted to announce that my son and I will be traveling to Israel at the end of this month (11-23 through 12-3). We will be part of a group of 85+ other American’s from Living Faith Bible Fellowship churches, and we’re very excited! This will be great father / son experience that will change our lives forever, by being in the Holy Land together, here’s a website with some pics of what we’ll see:

Lastly, and on a less happy note, one of our students, Kim Riggs, died early in the morning on 11-1-19. Kim experienced an accidental death by falling down the stairs in his home and hitting his head. He had a bad wreck a little over a year ago in which he had broke his neck, so he had some paralysis and had difficulty walking and fell easily. Kim started coming to our meetings in February 2013 and had attended about 130 meetings. His funeral will be on Thursday (11-7) at 1pm. Visitation will be held from 11am until service time at 1pm. Services will be held @ Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill MO, here’s their website for directions, details, and Kim’s obituary: http://www.wallace-funeralhomes.com/main/kim-l-riggs/ . Please feel free to attend and support his family and pass this onto others who may want to attend.

Sincerely, Steve Fleshman – Life Issues pastor and founder, Proverbs 4:23…
