V. Events
· Community Connection Day Report – Compass Health (Pat Lee, Life Issues Table) – June 20th, in Belton MO.
"On Community Connection Day, I had the opportunity to represent Life Issues by setting up our information table at Compass Health’s event, designed to link individuals and organizations working in the field of addiction recovery and support services. Throughout the day, I made meaningful connections with approximately 45 individuals, including participants of various recovery groups, Compass Health counselors, and Community Support Associates (CSAs) who specialize in helping clients connect with critical resources. The event proved to be an incredible opportunity to raise awareness about the Life Issues program and to collaborate with others on the front lines of recovery ministry and behavioral health support.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting Ryan Glidwell, a Workforce Development Specialist with Goodwill Services, whose resource table was set up directly next to mine. Ryan shared with me the substantial financial resources he has access to—resources that can be mobilized to help people not only find work but stay employed. These include practical support like Uber and gas cards for transportation, work boots, tools, and even food or rent assistance to help individuals avoid homelessness while maintaining employment. Ryan has already provided support to a couple of our Life Issues participants, and his partnership is truly a God-send. This new connection represents a powerful bridge between recovery and sustainable employment—exactly the kind of support that helps transform lives—exactly the kind of resource connections that we in Life Issues need to make! Praise the Lord for all that he does to lead, guide, and connect us to the future."
· Several from our church went to Shiloh Center’s annual Walk For Life – See pics.

· Dana M. testimony 7-7-25:
"A little over a year ago, I was sitting in jail with a high bond on charges that could potentially give me at least 10-15 years in prison. I’ve tried rehabs over the years but always went straight back to using drugs. This time was different. I cried to God in the shower to please wash my addiction down the drain.
I was released from jail with one more chance. I found HBF and Life Issues and immediately felt connected, loved, and supported, but never felt judged. I got saved after a Sunday morning service at HBF and got baptized within a few months, and I haven’t craved a substance since. I’m 13 months sober, and all my kids are back in my life! The feeling of sobriety and walking the path the Lord had intended for me is a high that’s better than any high I ever got from any drug I’ve ever done.,
If you truly want to change, pray, and ask the Lord for his help; He will work miracles in your life and you will never walk alone again! Dana M."
VII. Praises and Prayer requests
· Please pray for our upcoming Homecoming Fundraiser to supply us with the funds needed for 2026.
· I want to praise the Lord for the new recovery group in Monmouth Illinois, here’s a note from their leader, Bob Barry:
"MCBC Recovery has been in full swing for 3 months now. It’s still going a bit slow, but we have been blessed to have an average of 16 people at our Friday night meetings.
Recently we have experienced more visitors, mostly by invites. About 3 weeks ago we canvassed the City of Monmouth with 30 flyers that have pull tabs and placed them on any bulletin board that we could find in the community. We have noticed some tabs are being pulled. This past Friday we had our first guest who got her "tab invite" from the laundromat. Interesting enough she never goes to a laundromat but did this time to assist a client of hers as she does In Home Healthcare. I was giving God praises when she called to inquire. Based on how she responded and stayed behind for fellowship, I think we will be seeing more of her. That night we had 3 total visitors.
We are using a lesson and testimony rotation each week, which is going really well. Pastor Mike does our music, of which I am super thankful for his God given talent. August 1st, we have a scheduled cookout. Pray that these cookouts will foster deeper fellowship and will draw our visitors closer.
Pray for me as this has been a big life adjustment for me. Life got really busy adding the Recovery ministry while also working my full-time job. I'm claiming Prov 3:5-7 to navigate me through my busyness, insecurities and my calling to bring hope to the broken."
· Please pray for God to use us mightily in 2025, for without him we can do nothing, but through Him we can do all things! Sincerely, Steve Fleshman – Life Issues pastor and founder, Proverbs 4:23…
