Monthly Update - July 2019

Making a difference update, from the recovery field – July 2019 edition… Below are some bullet points of the highlights that happened in the Life Issues ministry over the last month:

  • Life Issues helped a student with 2 nights of emergency housing on 7-6 & 7-7
  • We had a missionary from India (Ganesh) come to Life Issues on 7-9 and present a wonderful message, and we gave him 12 of our Life Issues ball caps to take back to his ministry leaders!
  • Pat Lee paid a home visit to one of our student’s daughters who has health issues.
  • Several of us delivered meals to one of our leaders for two weeks, following her hip surgery on 7-17
  • One of our students got his driver’s permit on 7-12, another one is getting his legal issues behind him, another one of our men just got a job on 8-1, so we’re thankful for all these things!
  • HBF Helped one of our former students (who’s homeless) and her child with emergency housing for two nights, and we gave her some gas for her car on 7-16 & 7-17
  • One of our couples met with HBF’s pastor Brian on 7-18 for couples counseling.
  • Pat Lee got hired on staff at Lily’s House as their program director on 7-22, this is a big step for them and us, and we’re very proud of Pat for working in this capacity!
  • One of the men (Colby Welch) that used to come to our group frequently, just graduated from Davis County / Butler’s Drug Court Program on 8-2; we’re very proud of him and this accomplishment!
  • I got to perform a wedding for two of our Life Issues leaders (Chris Coen and Lauren Stovall) on 7-27! There were over 200 in attendance, it was an amazing experience for me, see attached picture of us!
  • Bill Corum (author of The Ultimate Pardon) led our Homecoming event on 8-2; there were over 50 in attendance and Bill’s “Father’s Blessing” blessed all of us and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd!
  • We’ve been emailing an inmate in St. Joseph MO and he recently informed us that he and two other men there, are going to be getting out of prison and coming to our area and want to attend Life Issues
Three of our leaders met on 7-31 to discuss our upcoming fundraiser:

Here’s a short testimony from one of our men that is a blessing to us:

"My name is Tim; ever since I excepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I have been able to overcome many obstacles. Life issues and Heartland Baptist fellowship have helped me let go of the pain that addiction has caused me over the years. I had many addictions and was never able to get anything done or accomplished. I always told myself that the tasks I had in front of me were too difficult and I would never be able to complete them. Now I have been finally able to take care of the things I’ve put off for many years thanks to the strength of Jesus Christ. God has been healing my relationships and bringing in new healthy ones I am also getting to see family members I haven’t seen in years and it’s all thanks to God."

Sincerely, Steve Fleshman – Life Issues pastor and founder, Proverbs 4:23…
