Meeting Summary
Brother Dale gave a moving testimony at our outdoor meeting around a campfire, about how God delivered him from a 25 year addiction to nicotine / cigarettes. He communicated his personal observation, that many people give up an illegal addiction, only to fall prey to the legal addiction of cigarettes, and how it can be physically worse for you and more difficult to stop. Ultimately he concluded that we need God to supernaturally take away sinful behaviors and habits, so that he gets the glory, otherwise we would get the glory if we could do it alone. Dale said that two keys for his relationship with the Lord, were like the two most important keys to a marriage: submission and commitment. I followed Dale's testimony with a message from 2 Kings 23, about how King Josiah got right with the Lord when he found the book of the Lord; and then burned and destroyed many idols that Israel's fathers had set up. We concluded our meeting by each of us writing something on a 3" X 5" index card, that we needed to get out of our life, and then we symbolically burned those cards. God is moving in our midst and is cleaning up dirty lives, and giving us a little reviving in our bondage, Steve...
